How was THE BORING BOX founded?

The inception of THE BORING BOX came from the struggle of not knowing what, and where to buy the items needed for my daughters dorm room. After a rollercoaster of a year, anxiously waiting to hear what school she would finally attend, it seemed like one door of pressure closed and now another opened. I disliked feeling like I was in a race with others who were also frantically looking for the same things - driving from store to store, and online shopping.  The pile of packages arriving at my home were endless, and I was often left with dreaded returns.  I thought how could we simplify this process and make this BIG moment in life easier, more affordable, with great quality…and voila, THE BORING BOX was created!

Why is it called THE BORING BOX?

The focus for my daughter while shopping for her dorm room was on the fun decor, and I was left to shop “the boring stuff” as it was coined.  Thread counts, towel quality and a cushioned mattress topper was left for me to research - and I found my peers to have been left with the same task.  So now in one simple click, you can purchase “the boring stuff”, and go have fun shopping the decor and spend more quality time with family and friends before the BIG move.

Why one Box?

Every square inch of our trunk was occupied - some families rent vehicles to bring all of their child’s belongings to not miss one inch of home. And when you arrive at the dorm, you envision this smooth transition, enjoying the unpacking and offering last minute advice.  But what you really get is, countless trips into a stuffy building with limited time and by the end of it you're driving home thinking…that was stressful, and didn’t get to enjoy the moment!  By having all of your essentials in one BOX, it limits those back and forth trips. And when you take your items out of The Box you will see that it has been packed in a way to support room organization, so you can easily unpack and set up your new space. One box saves you trunk space, multiple trips and precious time.

Why are we focused on hotel quality?

I mean, who wouldn’t want to feel like they are staying at a 5 star hotel instead of a dorm room! Quality matters, and in order to do well you need to sleep well and your hard earned money needs to last.  We have sourced our linens, buying from the same manufacturers as luxury hotel chains, to ensure quality and longevity, wash - after -wash, whether if be a laundromat or your family home washing machine.

The Price?

We understand the sticker shock of this next chapter in life; tuition, residence, meal plans, dorm setup, and the list goes on.  Budgeting is important, and some may have an OSAP loan, so we want to make sure that you get the best quality within a reasonable budget. You also have the option of using AFTERPAY, and enjoy 4 interest free payments so you do not have to pay all at once. We have done the challenging work of shopping around at big box retailers on-line and in-store to ensure we provide you the best price without compromising quality.

How can I repack THE BORING BOX, when I move out?

We have thought through the entire move-in move-out process and know that you cannot keep bulky bins or luggage in a dorm room.  On our social media channels you will find videos showing you how to collapse The Box, and use it again for when you move out.  We have also included our custom packing tape so you can re-seal The Box on move out day, and store it for the following year.
